Every engagement runs the same four phases — what scales is the sophistication of the stack, never the discipline. A 5-person distributor handing its quoting queue to an agent and a 500-person manufacturer handing over invoice exception handling run the identical Phase 0 → Phase 3 sequence: a lighter orchestration choice and a single-agent build for the small client, a licensed enterprise platform and a multi-agent interoperability protocol for the large one. Tool sophistication is gated by maturity — the methodology doesn't change size, the engagement does.

AgentThrust sells a locked business outcome, using an AI agent as the mechanism for one specific, bounded, audited workflow — not an agent framework and not a model subscription. It is not a peer to CATO, Creativa's enterprise AI portfolio governance system. It is Chain Reactor — our 90-day atomic transformation engine — specialized for the case where the Atomic Unit's owner is an AI agent rather than a person. CATO dispatches AgentThrust as one of the initiative types it orchestrates, exactly as it already dispatches standard Chain Reactor sprints.

In scope: a single, named business workflow — invoice exception handling, vendor onboarding, tier-1 support triage, procurement approval routing — that a client wants an AI agent to own end to end, under explicit permissions and audit. Out of scope: enterprise-wide AI portfolio governance (that's CATO's job), model training or fine-tuning, and general-purpose chatbot deployment with no defined workflow boundary.

The Governed Workflow Unit

A Governed Workflow Unit is Chain Reactor's Atomic Unit, specialized for an agent owner. It inherits every Atomic Unit requirement unchanged, plus two fields the Workflow Map makes possible. Ownership over augmentation is the line that matters: an agent that only assists is not yet a Governed Workflow Unit — it must own a bounded piece of the workflow outcome.

CATO Risk Tiers, Applied to Agent Tasks

AgentThrust does not define a new oversight scale. It applies CATO's three existing enterprise risk tiers directly to individual Governed Workflow Units — and governance is read off the map, not designed in the abstract: permissions, escalation, and audit requirements are derived from the Workflow Map's gateways and exceptions.

Inherited from Chain Reactor with no modification to the mechanism — only the metric library is specialized. Metrics that survive a board review: cycle time, handoffs eliminated, exception volume, audit completeness. Never agent count.

As with every Chain Reactor engagement, the contract cannot be altered mid-flight to accommodate execution friction. If leadership cannot lock one number before Day 1, the engagement does not launch.

Every one of these has a cheap-looking shortcut at the front and an expensive failure at the back. They are named here because naming them is what stops them.

Mapping the future state instead of the messy current one Produces a Governed Workflow Unit that fails on its first real exception. Map the process exactly as it runs today — including its exceptions and workarounds — before designing anything.
Skipping the Risk Tier classification because "it's just automation" The classification is what makes the audit trail defensible later. It is not a formality.
